KITCHEN WORKTOPS HITCHIN
Bespoke granite, quartz and porcelain across SG4 and SG5
Planning a kitchen renovation in Hitchin? We design, fabricate and install bespoke stone worktops for homes across SG4 and SG5, from the period properties around Market Place and Old Hitchin to the family homes of Walsworth, Westmill and Whitehill.
Hitchin is one of the most distinctive market towns in north Hertfordshire. The medieval street pattern around Market Place and Tilehouse Street is still largely intact, with a high concentration of listed properties and conservation-area homes that ask for sympathetic kitchen design. Beyond the old town, the housing opens out into 1930s suburban semi-detached around Walsworth Road and Westmill, post-war family homes in Whitehill and Walsworth, and newer estates on the edges of town.
Our workshop is based in Nazeing, around 30 miles south of Hitchin via the A1(M). It’s a longer run than some of our local installs, but Hitchin is a town we travel for happily. Our recent Artemistone Carrara installation here, featured below, is a good example of the kind of work that makes the journey straightforward to justify, and we time templating and delivery so it lands well around your kitchen fitter and decorator.
Whether you’re working with a Hitchin kitchen designer, a builder running an extension, or you’re sourcing the worktop yourself, we’re happy to come out for a free, no-obligation template and quote.
Worktops we install across Hitchin
Most Hitchin kitchens we work on land somewhere in the quartz, granite or porcelain family. The choice usually comes down to look, feel and how the space is used day to day.
Quartz worktops are by far the most popular choice in Hitchin. Hard-wearing, almost zero maintenance and available in everything from clean Carrara whites to dramatic veined slabs. Our Artemistone range covers the marble-effect options most homeowners are drawn to, and the Artemistone Carrara installation featured below is one of our most-requested whites for SG4 and SG5 projects.
Granite worktops are a natural stone with proper character. Ideal if you want depth, movement and the kind of detail no two slabs share. A strong choice for the older properties around Market Place and the larger Edwardian homes off Walsworth Road, where natural stone reads as appropriate to the period.
Porcelain and sintered stone are increasingly popular with the architects we work with on contemporary Hitchin extensions. Lightweight, full-body and suitable for outdoor kitchens too, which is a request we get often from clients with the larger gardens common on the western side of town.
Across our Hitchin work we hold a comprehensive sample library and are happy to bring colours and finishes out to your home so you can see them against your cabinetry, flooring and lighting before you commit.
Recent Hitchin project: Artemistone Carrara
Our recent Hitchin installation was finished in Artemistone Carrara Quartz. A clean, bright white stone with the soft grey veining of classic Carrara marble, but engineered for everyday family kitchen use without the staining, etching and resealing that real marble demands.
Artemistone Carrara is one of our most-requested finishes across Hertfordshire and pairs particularly well with shaker cabinetry in off-whites, soft greens and muted blues, all common choices in the older Hitchin properties we work on.

Hitchin worktop FAQs
Which Hitchin postcodes do you cover?
We cover all of SG4 and SG5 including Old Hitchin, Market Place, Walsworth, Westmill, Walsworth Road, Whitehill and the surrounding villages. We also work right across north Hertfordshire including Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth.
How long does the process take from quote to installed worktop?
Once we’ve templated your kitchen (usually around two weeks after your cabinetry is in place), fabrication takes 7 to 10 working days. The installation itself is completed in a single day, so you’re not left without a working kitchen for any longer than necessary.
Do you really travel from Nazeing to Hitchin?
Yes. Hitchin is around 30 miles north of our workshop and we run the A1(M) regularly for SG4 and SG5 projects. Distance doesn’t change the process: free templating, free quote and one-day installation, the same as for our local Essex and east Hertfordshire work.
Do you work on listed and period properties in Hitchin?
Yes. Old Hitchin has one of the highest concentrations of listed properties of any town we cover, and we’ve fitted worktops in plenty of them. For period homes we tend to recommend honed-finish quartz or natural granite for a look that feels right alongside original features but handles modern family use.
Do you offer free quotes in Hitchin?
Yes. We provide free, no-obligation quotes for any worktop project in Hitchin. You can submit measurements and your stone choice through our online quote form, or arrange a home visit if you’d prefer to discuss options in person.
What guarantee do you offer?
All our worktops come with a 10-year guarantee. We’re Checkatrade-approved with hundreds of completed projects across Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties.
